Floranext has 2 methods to apply the delivery charge to orders that can be used together or separate, distance and postal code prefix.
Applying delivery charge by postal code prefix is recommended because it simply applies the delivery charge based on the prefix (first 3 characters) of postal code of the recipient's address which typically is a small defined area that has a single delivery charge. It's easy for employees and customers to understand and is the most straightforward. However, some regions have postal code prefixes that stretch out for miles, and for this, Floranext can also apply the delivery charge based on the distance of recipient to shop.
Here are details of the options below to help you choose which is right for your shop!
Option A: Check Postal Code Only (recommended for transparency)
Predefine a delivery charge for each postal code you service (e.g. Postal code M5P 2N7 has $10.00 delivery, Postal code K1P 1J1 has $5.00 delivery.)
Floranext will check recipient postal code against the list of predefined serviced postal codes and if it's not in list, then the 'Out of Area' delivery charge will be applied.
How to Set Up
Enter in all postal codes you service along with delivery charge for that postal code.
Option B: Check Distance Only
Predefine the distances and charges (e.g. 0-2 km has $5.00 charge, 2.01-5 km has $8.00 charge....)
Floranext will map the recipient address to calculate the distance to the shop, then apply delivery charge according to your parameters.
Note if the specific address can't be found, the distance to the center of the postal code will be used. Also, if the distance is greater or doesn't fall within the parameters you've set, then it will default to 'Out of Area' delivery charge and apply the wire out fee.
How to Set Up
Enter in shop's address along with the parameters for the delivery charge (ex. 0 km- 2 km has $8.00 charge).
Note: Be sure to set the 'Units' to kilometers
Option C: Check Postal Code Prefix, then Distance
Enter in the postal code prefixes (first 3 characters) and distances as described above. Floranext will first check postal code against your postal code list, if it's not listed then it will calculate distance to apply delivery charge.
Note if the specific address can't be found, the distance to the center of the postal code will be used. Also, if the distance is greater or doesn't fall within the parameters you've set, then it will default to 'Out of Area' delivery charge and apply the wire out fee.
Option D: Check Distance, then Postal Code Prefix
Enter in your postal code prefixes and distances as described above. Floranext will first map the address to calculate distance, if it can't be mapped or the distance is not within parameters you've set, then it will check postal code prefix against your postal code prefix list to apply delivery charge.
If neither postal code or distance can be used, the 'Out of Area' delivery charge will apply.
Alternatives
Flat Rate Delivery Charge
To apply single delivery charge to all orders, skip over to the 'Out of Area' delivery charge and enter in your flat rate delivery charge here.
Note, the option wire out fee on website should be disabled if using this method to avoid applying the wire out fee to all website orders.
